Creating A Contact Report

Contact reports are created by players in game to indicate the position of the enemy. Various categories of contact reports are available:

  • Enemy Armor
  • Enemy Infantry
  • Enemy Aircraft
  • Enemy Boats

To create a contact report:

  1. Bring up your map in game ('M' key)
  2. Right click on the position on the map that you wish to place the contact report
  3. Select 'Create Contact Report' from the pop-up menu
  4. Select the type of Contact Report you want to make
  5. You will be prompted for a short description of the contact. Generally it is enough to indicate the type of unit (Sherman, Tiger, etc...).
  6. Wait for the mission leader to approve the contact report (you do not need to keep the map open)

Tips:

  • You can only have one active contact report at a time, so inform your mission leader when a contact report becomes stale so he can remove it for you
  • There is no 'enemy truck' contact report. Players will sometimes use the 'Enemy Boat' icon to indicate the location of an enemy MSP.
  • Do not place a contact report on a moving vehicle unless asked, it will quickly become outdated and other players may be attacked from an unexpected direction. Try to wait till your contact stops moving. Informing other players of the contact on the chat channel is still OK.

Accepting A Contact Report

All contact reports must be approved before they are visible to other players. Only mission leaders can accept contact reports.

If you are a mission leader:

  • First find a safe spot to look at your map, you don't have long to do this so be quick about it (Roughly 15 seconds).
  • Open your map and zoom out a little so you can see the surrounding area.
  • If you where quick enough finding a safe spot you should see a flashing icon
  • These icons look like the EWS Icons that we see on the map (pre v1.21 EWS icons).
  • Right click the icon and you will be presented with 'Accept Contact' menu.
  • Left click that and the Contact Report will stop flashing.

Who Can See Contact Reports

Approved contact reports can be seen by anyone who is on a mission with the same Objective as yours. This includes Airforce, Navy, Tanks and Infantry. Contact reports are particularily usefull for Forward Air Control (FAC) players to report positions which should be bombed (generally enemy tanks and boats). Because so many people can see contact reports, care should be taken to ensure that the position indicated is correct and also that the mission leader removes the contact report when the enemy contact is destroyed.

Things to Remember

  • A good Mission Leader, should keep abreast of what icons are on the map, as players are limited to only a few as things die you should remove them from the map if you are sure they are dead.
  • Players will sometimes add more information, you can hover over the icon to get a tool tip with the person who posted it and the extra description.
  • Icons will fade out over 5 minutes.
